Main responsibilities
- Use existing neighborhood maps to designate areas to be covered.
- Organize student sign up sheets for the Band Room (it is a mandatory activity for all students).
- Assign students to groups 4–6 per group, mixed across grades to ensure upperclassmen can show freshmen how Tag Day works.
- Request volunteer drivers through Volunteer Coordinator.
- Check cafeteria is reserved for lunch – Mr. Minnick usually does this.
- Order pizza and liaise with VP Bands to buy any paper products needed, as well as sodas/water.
- Reorganize groups during the day as required as some students leave after lunch.
- Copy tags, cut and attach to envelopes, request help through Volunteer Coordinator if needed.
- Liaise with Treasurer to agree check/cash accounting and handling as groups return to school.
Time required per week/per month and during the day/evening or weekend
- Preparation activities will take several hours before the event.
- You will need to be at school all day the day of Tag Day (a Saturday in September).
Key skills required
- It helps to be highly organized and flexible, adjusting “on the fly!”
Other information
- Copies of maps are in the 2012 Tag Day file.
- Teru Gilbert usually makes the original Tag for copying.
- Be prepared for the ‘no-shows’ on the day and extra students, be flexible.
