Main responsibilities

  • Use existing neighborhood maps to designate areas to be covered.
  • Organize student sign up sheets for the Band Room (it is a mandatory activity for all students).
  • Assign students to groups 4–6 per group, mixed across grades to ensure upperclassmen can show freshmen how Tag Day works.
  • Request volunteer drivers through Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Check cafeteria is reserved for lunch – Mr. Minnick usually does this.
  • Order pizza and liaise with VP Bands to buy any paper products needed, as well as sodas/water.
  • Reorganize groups during the day as required as some students leave after lunch.
  • Copy tags, cut and attach to envelopes, request help through Volunteer Coordinator if needed.
  • Liaise with Treasurer to agree check/cash accounting and handling as groups return to school.

Time required per week/per month and during the day/evening or weekend

  • Preparation activities will take several hours before the event.
  • You will need to be at school all day the day of Tag Day (a Saturday in September).

Key skills required

  • It helps to be highly organized and flexible, adjusting “on the fly!”

  • Copies of maps are in the 2012 Tag Day file.
  • Teru Gilbert usually makes the original Tag for copying.
  • Be prepared for the ‘no-shows’ on the day and extra students, be flexible.
