Main responsibilities

  • Fit all Band students with either a gown or 5 piece tuxedo.
    • Check fitting/refit underclassmen, then fit freshmen.
    • Marchers are fitted during Band Camp, non-Marchers during band class once school starts.
  • Prepare order of required items for Board approval. Place order, check delivery and ensure an alterations are completed ahead of Winter Concert.
  • Maintain spreadsheet of inventory, throughout the year, by student, tag completed outfits student’s name and follow up any missing items.
  • Handing out and collecting outfits from students for each event/performance. This will involve packing, boxing, and or labeling for any trips.
  • Undertake dry cleaning of all gowns, pants, jackets and shirts 2 – 3 times during the school year, with complete repairs as required.
  • Launder white dress shirts after each event.
  • Liaise with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit additional help for all events.

Time required per week/per month and during the day/evening or weekend

  • Last week of July and through Band Camp: 4 hours/day, 2-3 days/week.
  • September and October: 2 – 3 hours/day, 3-4 days /week.
  • All other months 2-3 hours/week.

Key skills required

  • Microsoft Office.
  • Basic sewing skills are desirable.

Other information

  • Minimum of two volunteers at all fittings.
  • Space is limited in closet, work in hallways.
